Ted Cohen is the CEO of the Bess and Moe Greenberg Family Hillel Lodge, a long-term care home in Ottawa, Ontario. With over 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare and non-profit organizations, Ted has overseen facility operations, capital planning, and governance in environments where safety, dignity, and continuity are essential.
He is deeply interested in how facility management is evolving—particularly the growing need to align infrastructure decisions with people-centred outcomes, sustainability, and technological change. His work has focused on integrating professional facilitypractices into strategic planning and organizational culture, especially in sectors where care, compliance, and community intersect.
Ted has been actively involved with IFMA’s credentialing programs since 2011, beginning as anitem writer and editor for the Certified Facility Manager (CFM) exam. His early contributions ledto an invitation to participate in the Job Task Analysis for the CFM, helping to shape theoundational competencies of the designation.
Ted has served as Vice Chair and Chair of the International Certification Commission. During his tenure on the International Certification Commission, he played a central role in supporting all aspects of the CFM exam development process. He also served as Co-Chair of the CMAC and is now an active CMAC member.
As a member of IFMA’s Global Board of Directors, Ted brings a healthcare lens and a governance perspective to the conversation about the future of the profession. He is committed to supporting FM leaders as they navigate new demands and build resilient, purpose-driven organizations.
