Call for Volunteers: Global Subject Matter Experts for CFM® Exam Development

The CFM Scheme Committee announces a call for volunteers to participate in the development of a revised CFM Exam, which is expected to be released in the summer of 2018. A global team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will play a critical part in this process, sharing their facility management knowledge and expertise by working with psychometricians to ensure content quality. All SMEs will be asked to participate in the following:

  • A 90-minute Web-based item-writer training session (or listen to recording) – January 2018
  • Write items with distractors – January/February 2018

Following the completion of item writing, a team of SMEs will be selected to assist with item review and standard-setting activities. SMEs must be certified and in good standing and must be currently practicing or retired within the last three (3) years to serve as experts. Individual who participate in this activity will be able to apply it toward their CFM renewal. (Please note: SMEs will be prohibited from teaching test preparation courses directly related to the exam for which they were serving as experts.)

Although no travel is anticipated now, there is a possibility that some SMEs will be asked to participate in an in-person meeting in the Spring of 2018. In the event this becomes a necessity, all travel expenses including airfare, hotel and meals will be reimbursed in accordance with IFMA policy. All SMEs will be required to sign
the following documents at the beginning of the project:

  • Works-for-Hire document
  • Nondisclosure agreement
