IFMA’s World Workplace® 2019 keynote speakers share insights on team-building, workplace well-being and surviving radical change

June 24, 2019

For its 2019 World Workplace® Conference and Expo, held this Oct. 16-18 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, IFMA has invited four renowned speakers to light up the general session stage with insights on building world-class teams, improving workplace well-being, and preparing for (and surviving) radical change.

World Champion Eco-Challenge Adventure Racer and best-selling author Robyn Benincasa will deliver the opening keynote address on Wednesday, Oct. 16, and nexxworks co-founder and partner Peter Hinssen will speak on Friday, following IFMA’s Awards of Excellence presentation. Thursday’s plenary session, “Connecting the Dots to an Effective Wellness Strategy: HR, Facilities and Finance,” will be presented by Rex Miller, author, futurist and principal for MindShift, and Mim Senft, president and CEO of Motivity Partners and co-founder and CEO of Global Women 4 Wellbeing.

Each year, IFMA invites renowned speakers to its flagship educational and networking event to provide attendees with fresh outlooks on leadership, expert guidance on challenges specific to facility management, and inventive ideas for achieving personal and professional goals.

Robyn Benincasa is an award-winning motivational speaker, a firefighter, 10-time Ironman triathlete, New York Times best-selling author, the proud owner of two bionic metal hips, and the founder and CEO of the Project Athena Foundation, which helps survivors live an adventurous dream as part of their recovery. Benincasa knows a thing or two about creating human synergy – “that magic that allows groups of ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things together.” She regularly shares the stage with world leaders and business icons, and she advises companies such as Starbucks, Fast Company, ARAMARK, Siemens, 3M, Microsoft and AT&T on how to build world-class teams.

Employers face a growing health-cost crisis that threatens to swallow profits and drain the vitality of their workforce. Absenteeism, disengagement and turnover cost businesses an estimated US$1.2 trillion a year, and work has become the fifth leading cause of death. Taking a radically different approach to workplace health and well-being can help organizations avoid becoming a tragic statistic. Rex Miller and Mim Senft share strategies for improving workplace well-being with little or no cost to the company.

Peter Hinssen is an author of four best-selling books and frequently speaks on innovation, leadership, and the impact of all things digital on society and business. The “Day After Tomorrow” is a time and place where new ideas, new technologies and concepts could change the business canvas forever. It’s where enormous amounts of long-term value lie; yet most businesses look at tomorrow by what they know today. Hinssen talks about a rapidly changing world and the business models, organizational structures, talent, mindsets, technologies and cultures needed to maximize our chances for survival. He will cover pioneers who managed to move beyond tomorrow and were able to change the course of entire industries.
