IFMA, RICS launch World Workplace Forum Middle East

Feb. 05, 2018

Following the success of the first World Workplace event in the Middle East in May 2017, IFMA and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) are bringing the second World Workplace Forum to Dubai.

The event will bring forward-thinking FM strategies, solutions and the latest industry standards to an interactive, one-day learning and networking event at The Address Dubai Mall, on 19 April 2018.

Titled ‘We are FM: Defining FM & Transforming the Built Environment,’ this year’s event will feature the exclusive launch of the ‘Strategic FM Framework,’ a global best practice document for FM, co-produced by IFMA and RICS. The document aims to provide clear guidance for strategic asset management, wherever the professional is in the world.

Opening the conference is keynote speaker Darrell D. Smith, Director Central Services for Google's Bay Area Portfolio. Smith is responsible for the facility management, critical environments, planning and other facilities services at one of the most innovative companies in the world and will be sharing his knowledge and insight with the Middle East market.

Other speakers include:

  • Rob Jackson, Director, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • Graham Tier, Head of Property Facilities Management - The Hong Kong Jockey Club
  • William M. O'Neill, CFM, Chair, Global Board of Directors, IFMA

This event will build on the need for strategic FM in the region and reinforce and advance the key themes that were discussed last year. The collaboration between the two organisations, which was announced in 2016, provides an unprecedented level of industry support to meet the growing demands of the 25 million FM practitioners around the world. By aligning standards and professional development in the industry, IFMA and RICS are working to unite the global FM community to increase consistency and unification of strategy across the life cycle of the built environment.
