IFMA’s 2017 Awards of Excellence recipients honored at IFMA’s World Workplace

Oct. 20, 2017

IFMA announced the recipients of its 2017 Awards of Excellence at IFMA’s World Workplace Conference and Expo in Houston, Texas, USA. The annual awards recognize outstanding achievements of IFMA members, chapters, councils and communities of practice. Recipients were announced at a luncheon and banquet honoring those who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of the facility management profession and the association.

“2017 ushered in what I am calling, ‘The Year of Communication.’ At IFMA, we’ve examined every channel of our communications. Our chapters, councils and communities are experiencing the same challenges that we face as a global organization,” said IFMA President and CEO, Tony Keane, CAE. “This year’s award recipients are no strangers to this fast-paced climate, and have persevered to achieve excellence — both in their work and in their contributions to IFMA and the FM industry.”

In addition to IFMA’s Awards of Excellence, the Friday, Oct. 20, luncheon included the 2017 IFMA Foundation Trustees Awards, presented by Foundation Chair Michael Schley, IFMA Fellow; and the Lighting Energy Efficiency in Parking (LEEP) Campaign Awards, presented by Jason Hartke, Ph.D., Program Manager, Commercial Buildings Integration, U.S. Department of Energy. For the past four years, IFMA has been a LEEP Campaign partner. The program recognizes exemplary energy-efficiency work by facility managers and owners in their parking operations.

“Awards that celebrate contributions of individuals and components are important for any community; and with IFMA serving an industry as dynamic as FM, this is particularly true,” said Graham John Tier, CFM, FMP, MRICS, First Vice Chair of IFMA’s Board of Directors. “When we talk about global changes and industry growth, we sometimes forget that behind every inch of progress, and behind every change, is a person. The FM professionals we have recognized today are building the future for our profession.”

Winners were announced in 16 categories, with judging panels comprised of industry experts evaluating nominees individually and scoring them in a number of specific areas. Both the luncheon and the banquet were hosted by stand-up comedian and comedy writer Vic Henley. The 2017 IFMA Awards of Excellence recipients are as follows:
