    Today, the global board of directors of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) approved a petition to form a new chapter in Barbados, one of the larger islands in the eastern Caribbean region in terms of population and economic activity. With the addition of the Barbados Chapter, IFMA continues to grow its professional community and raise the profile of facility management globally.

    The new Facility Management (FM) Training and Development Framework introduced in January by the IFMA Foundation has attracted participation from leading industry associations including the Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE), ASHRAE and ISSA (International Sanitary Supply Association). As more industry leaders add their professional development services to the framework with IFMA’s world-class suite of professional credentials, the goal of establishing holistic guidelines for FM training — particularly in the technical fields — is becoming a reality.

    IFMA digital badging expanded to include FMP® and SFP®

    IFMA is expanding new enhancements for its world-class suite of facility management (FM) credentials and certifications with the addition of digital badges for the FMP® (Facility Management Professional™) and the SFP® (Sustainability Facility Professional®) designations. Last month, IFMA introduced digital badging for the Certified Facility Manager® (CFM®) and Retired CFM® (RCFM®). IFMA is offering these web-enabled, shareable and verifiable versions of professional development accomplishments in partnership with Credly, a top digital badging company, through their platform, Acclaim.
