Online Community: The Public Sector Facilities Council talks liability wavers
IFMA members help each other with facility-specific issues through IFMA’s councils and communities of practice. IFMA’s online community forum facilitates discussions. Here is an excerpt from a recent exchange between Public Sector Facilities Council members regarding liability wavers for city-sponsored clean-up activity. Only Public Sector Facilities Council members can access the shared files.
R. Paul Simons posted:
Our [city] council has requested and hired a contractor to perform a one-week graffiti removal blitz within our community. Removal will be on public and private property. This is the first time that a city-sponsored clean up will occur. I am looking for a liability waver form for city-sponsored clean up on private property. If you have such a thing for this type of activity, please let me know.
April Heinzereplied:
You need a right of entry permit for the private property.
If you aren’t participating in one or more of IFMA’s industry and interest specific councils or communities of practice, or our new Special Interest Group Forums that are open to all members, you are missing out on one of the most important benefits IFMA membership has to offer!

IFMA members can enhance benchmarking efforts in facility performance through the association’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager master account. This valuable tool creates a clearinghouse for building energy performance data, allowing building owners to calculate and easily store data in one’s own business account.
The first step is to establish your baseline in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager; secondly, share your data with the IFMA master account. Getting started and sharing your data is now easier than ever. Plus, everyone who takes part has a chance for recognition at IFMA’s World Workplace 2010!
Data sharing is on a strictly voluntary basis. In order for IFMA to benchmark members’ combined energy performance, the association’s research department will have access to the database and apply the same standards of care and confidentiality with ENERGY STAR data. Although no scores will be revealed, we will need your permission to use your company's name to be recognized as a participant.
If you are currently tracking your data, please make sure to share that information with IFMA. If you’re interested in participating, get started today by visiting ifma.org/sustainability/ or the ENERGY STAR forum at http://ifmacommunity.org.
