Sustainability
IFMA assists facility management professionals in planning and implementing strategic sustainability programs.
Facility management professionals have long been concerned with and engaged in the environmental aspects of the facilities they operate, especially from the perspective of energy conservation and high-performance buildings.
As the premier representative for the FM profession and its concerns, IFMA holistically embraces environmental stewardship. The association promotes efficient and responsible use of the planet's finite resources in workplace applications and advocates that sustainable initiatives are also good for business. Sustainability is one of four strategic themes that guide IFMA's priorities.
For the benefit of the FM community, IFMA is focused on establishing itself as a global sustainability leader and expert resource on sustainability. IFMA is developing an integrated sustainability strategy framework that addresses both long- and short-term building portfolio goals and creates a holistic approach to managing building portfolios. Through the association, FMs have access to educational, informational and networking resources geared toward managing assets sustainably, either independently or with strategic partners.
