IFMA’s World Workplace Conference and Expo packs plenty of pre-show punch

IFMA is offering plenty of premium programming leading up to the official start of its World Workplace Conference and Expo in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA on Oct. 3. Facility management professionals and anyone in the built environment industries will benefit from unique behind-the-scenes facility tours or either of IFMA’s renowned Deeper Dive Sessions offered on Oct. 2. Attendees hoping to capitalize on the conference theme, “Create Your Own Success,” can enroll in a pre-conference credential or training course for practical learning and professional growth.

IFMA is offering instructor-led knowledge- and skill-building courses that will benefit FM professionals at any stage of their career. For those interested in continuing their FM education by achieving one of three globally recognized credentials, IFMA is offering courses for the FMP® and SFP®, and the FM Learning System to help professionals prepare for the CFM® exam. Those new to the profession will benefit from IFMA’s Essentials of Facility Management course, where they will explore the roles, responsibilities and core competencies that make up the FM profession. Finally, IFMA is offering a Comprehensive Review on ISO Management Systems. This interactive workshop will walk participants through the framework for an ISO Management System Standard and will introduce them to FM-relevant standards.

30th Annual Doug Underwood/Utilities Council Golf Tournament and Fundraiser (Oct. 2)
Hosted by the IFMA Foundation and the IFMA Utilities Council

Attendees will have fun while raising money for FM scholarships at this best ball scramble format suitable for players of all levels. This year the tournament will be held in the Charlotte area at Rocky River Golf Club, 6900 Burton Smith Blvd, Concord, North Carolina 28027. The IFMA Foundation will host its annual academic awards presentation and “Demin and Diamonds” fundraiser to support its mission of making FM a career of choice that evening at the Westin Charlotte Grand Ballroom.

Deeper Dive Sessions (Oct. 2)

IFMA is offering two Deeper Dive Sessions which will offer real-world experience and skills to benefit any FM professional. Sessions run from 1-5 p.m.

The Disaster Experience for Facility Managers (A Tabletop Exercise) – This simulation will put participants in the throes of real-life disaster situations, as they unfold. They will make critical decisions and deal with the consequences of those decisions in real time. The process will underscore the importance of advance disaster and continuity planning.

Tech Rich, Time Poor – Managing Your Workload and Technology – This exciting, interactive presentation will cover prioritization on the fly, freeing the brain of “mind traffic” and breaking the “fire-fighting” habit, and techniques to help structure a productive day.

Facility Tours (Oct. 2)

IFMA is offering behind-the-scenes facility tours which run from 1-5 p.m. and a facility tour field trip which runs from 12-5 p.m. Although these tours are currently sold out, attendees may be able to join a tour onsite if a space becomes available.

Field Trip to Charlotte Motor Speedway – Participants will enjoy a full behind-the-scenes overview of the facilities at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, including the ZMAX Dragway, the Dirt Track at Charlotte and the Charlotte Motor Speedway 1.5 mile oval. Duke Energy Center – The 51-story Duke Energy Center is the crown jewel of Charlotte’s most sophisticated arts district. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at this 1.5-million square foot triple LEED Platinum-certified office tower. Tours will depart every 30 minutes from 1:30-3 p.m.

Bank of America Stadium – Located in Uptown Charlotte, the 75,525-seat open-air, natural grass stadium is a self-contained headquarters for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League. The stadium tour includes training facilities, practice fields and administrative offices.
