IFMA has tapped Lara Paemen to serve as Director, IFMA Europe. With extensive experience in workplace strategy, business and business consulting in Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Spain and the United Kingdom, Paemen leverages practical knowledge with a progressive vision that is suited to the exciting potential in the European facility management (FM) market.

“The innovation and thought leadership in Europe will direct the shape of the emerging global FM community,” said Paemen. “I am looking forward to working closely together with IFMA’s local chapters to strengthen our European position.”

Research conducted by GlobalFM and supported by IFMA indicates that the FM market in Europe is at least €249.64 billion. Along with North America, the European FM market is the most mature in the world, with global leadership in several critical fields, including energy efficiency, sustainability and workplace strategy.

To support and supplement progress in Europe and to expand it to new regions, IFMA is building a truly global FM community, thanks in part to its landmark collaboration with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Global FM unification and integration into the broader built environment conversation will require strong European leadership and engagement.

To further this goal, the region’s leading minds in FM will gather this spring at the World Workplace Conference and Expo in Stockholm, Sweden, 30 May through 1 June (www.worldworkplaceeurope.org). Paemen will build on this momentum to continue to develop the services and products within IFMA’s European portfolio to provide unparalleled value for FM professionals.

“IFMA is uniquely positioned to provide global support for FM professionals in Europe,” said IFMA President and CEO Tony Keane. “As the FM industry works together to build the foundation for global FM standards, Europe will continue to play a significant role. Lara has the skill and experience to support that effort, working with IFMA’s European chapters and chapter leaders to leverage the value of the world’s largest FM professional association.”
