IFMA is the world’s largest and most widely recognized international association for facility management professionals, supporting 24,000 members in 104 countries.     IFMA launches Global Job Task Analysis survey; FM professionals from around the world encouraged to participate

    IFMA today began accepting responses for its Global Job Task Analysis (GJTA) survey which identifies the knowledge, skills and abilities that comprise the facility management discipline. The survey is open through Feb. 9, 2016 to anyone practicing FM anywhere in the world. It can accessed online at www.ifma.org/gjta.

    IFMA’s Steve Jones elected as chair of the International Credentials Commission

    The International Credentials Commission (ICC), an independent commission of IFMA, has elected Steve Jones, CFM to chair. Jones, who lives and works in Australia, was elected by ICC commissioners to a one-year term, after which he will be eligible for re-election. The ICC is an independent body created by the IFMA bylaws and is responsible for all management of IFMA’s world class credential programs that include the Certified Facility Manager® (CFM®), the Facility Management Professional™ (FMP®) and the Sustainability Facility Professional® (SFP®).

    Celebrating 35 years of supporting and advancing the FM community, IFMA once again delivered unparalleled value at its World Workplace Conference and Expo held Oct. 7-9 in Denver, Colorado, USA. Nearly 1,000 first-time attendees joined a total conference participation of more than 4,600 facility professionals. Coming to Denver from around the globe, they took advantage of world-class networking, education and inspirational programming to collaborate and innovate.

    Tony Keane pens open letter congratulating City of Denver & Hyatt Regency for emergency planning

    Among the guests evacuated from the downtown Hyatt Regency Denver in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 10 were hundreds of facility managers from around the world who had that week attended the International Facility Management Association’s (IFMA) World Workplace 2015 Conference and Expo at the Colorado Convention Center. Like everyone else that night, IFMA members, staff and our board of directors were caught up in the unnerving uncertainty of the situation. But as men and women who are responsible for the emergency planning of our own facilities, we were also impressed by the planning and execution of the Hyatt Regency and the City of Denver.

    Two longstanding members of IFMA were honored for their contributions to the association and the facility management community with Chairman’s Citations issued by 2015-16 IFMA chair Michael D. Feldman, FMP, CM. The 2015 honorees are Eric T. Dillinger and William T. Conley, IFMA Fellow, CFM, FMP, SFP, LEED AP. The recognition was part of IFMA’s annual Awards of Excellence banquet, held Friday, Oct. 9, in Denver, Colorado, USA, during IFMA’s World Workplace 2015 Conference and Expo.

The 2015 Class of IFMA Fellows was inducted at IFMA’s annual Awards of Excellence banquet Friday, Oct. 9, in Denver, Colorado, USA, held during IFMA’s World Workplace 2015 Conference and Expo. Being named an IFMA Fellow is the highest honor the association bestows upon members.

    IFMA workplace strategy survey finds unassigned space on the rise

    A new survey released by IFMA provides critical insights into the evolving state of workplace strategy. According to “Distributed Work Revisited” released at IFMA’s World Workplace 2015 Conference and Expo, most surveyed organizations have increased the number of staff sitting in unassigned spaces when compared with the initial 2009 “Distributed Work” report. At the same time, survey respondents reported a decrease in the amount of space required to support unassigned staff.
