    IFMA joins forces with ISSA Show Canada

    IFMA is joining forces with ISSA, the worldwide cleaning association, and MediaEdge Communications to support a new trade show and conference for the larger built environment. The joint trade show will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre June 11-13, 2019. The trade show will be held in tandem with the REMI Show whose delegates will include building owners and managers. This joint event supports IFMA’s critical goal of unifying the global built environment industry.

    IFMA releases benchmark report for facility management

    IFMA has released the latest product of its FM Research and Benchmarking Institute, the 2018 Operations and Maintenance: Qualitative Analysis Benchmarking Report. The report is a comprehensive analysis of the most recent operations and maintenance benchmarking survey of more than 2,000 individual responses representing 98,000 buildings in 35 industries. Of unique interest in this report is a section exploring FM strategies for organizational agility and change management.

    IFMA growth continues with new chapters, council expansion and unification

    IFMA continues to grow its global community while improving the scope and service to existing component groups. IFMA’s global board of directors approved petitions to form new chapters in France and Croatia. The Religious Facilities Council has been renamed the Nonprofit Facilities Council, expanding its constituency and services, and the Health Care Council — until recently, the Health Care Institute — has been restored to full council status.

    The IFMA Foundation, with support from IFMA, has released a new Facility Management Training and Development Framework to address the challenge of insufficient wholistic guidelines for training, particularly in the technical fields. While IFMA’s world-class suite of professional credentials remains focused on core competencies for practicing facility managers, the Facility Management Training and Development Framework provides needed guidance on acquiring or demonstrating mastery of specialized skillsets necessary in the built environment industry.

    IFMA Reaccredited as a Provider of IACET CEUs

    Nov. 14, 2018
    IFMA has earned reaccreditation status from the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). IACET Accredited Providers are the only organizations approved to offer IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs). The accreditation period extends for five years, and includes all programs offered or created during that time. IFMA originally received accreditation as a provider of IACET CEUs in June 2008.

    Report shows significant value for organizations and employers who employ IFMA credential holders

    IFMA has released its second report on the return on investment (ROI) of its professional development program. The first report found a striking 15:1 ROI for individual FM professionals in terms of salary and career advancement. This report continues the story, quantifying the value organizations and employers achieve from employing IFMA credential holders. Among the key findings: - 70 percent of organizations rate IFMA credentialed employees as having statistically significantly higher performance. - 12 percent increase in employee performance for each US$2,000 spent on IFMA credentials. - The average IFMA credential results in more than a 40 percent increase in employee performance.

    IFMA names Don Gilpin as Chief Operating Officer

    IFMA has named Don Gilpin as Chief Operating Officer (COO) beginning the week of Sept. 17, 2018. Gilpin has served as IFMA’s interim COO since Feb. 5. Gilpin is an accomplished executive with strong experience in international association management, trade show production, education/certification programs, legislative advocacy and workforce development. Prior to joining IFMA, Gilpin served as the Executive Director and COO at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) located in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. While at CEDIA, he was instrumental in the formation of two industry organizations for the electronic systems industry, The Electronic Systems Professional Alliance (ESPA) and the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) trade show and served as chairman of the board for both organizations.

    IFMA Foundation announces new executive director

    The IFMA Foundation today announced the appointment of Diane Coles Levine as Executive Director. Her executive role began July 2. She has been a driver of workplace strategy within the facility management (FM) community for more than 25 years. She is a cofounder of IFMA’s Workplace Evolutionaries community and the IFMA Foundation Workplace Strategy Research Summits. She is also an award-winning co-editor and author of the “Work on the Move” books and recently completed a three-year term on IFMA’s global board of directors. A sought-after speaker who has guest lectured at MIT and the Vienna University of Technology, Coles Levine has been actively involved in the IFMA Foundation and is one of the pioneers of the foundation’s Global Workforce Initiative. She joins IFMA staff as a remote employee, working from Long Beach, California, USA.

    IFMA is pleased to introduce the member-elected executive committee (EC) and new appointees of its global board of directors for the 2018-19 fiscal year. July 1 marked the first day as chair for Graham John Tier, CFM, FMP, MRICS. He is joined by first vice chair John Carrillo, CFM, IFMA Fellow, and second vice chair Peter Ankerstjerne, MBA, COP, FRICS, IFMA Fellow. EC terms last one year. In addition, four new board members were appointed to three-year terms: Beverley Farrington, Kate North, Michael Redding and Dean Stanberry, CFM, LEED AP O+M. These professionals bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the organization globally renowned for thought leadership in facility management (FM) and workplace strategy.
