    IFMA announces high-octane slate of keynote speakers for World Workplace Conference and Expo in Charlotte

    IFMA has named three keynote speakers for the first time at its World Workplace Conference and Expo. NASCAR icon and philanthropist Kyle Petty will deliver the opening keynote and former White House CIO and cybersecurity expert Theresa Payton will present the awards luncheon closing keynote. Delivering the first plenary session keynote is Scott Breor, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

    IFMA Foundation announces new executive director

    July 09, 2018
    The IFMA Foundation today announced the appointment of Diane Coles Levine as Executive Director. Her executive role began July 2. She has been a driver of workplace strategy within the facility management (FM) community for more than 25 years. She is a cofounder of IFMA’s Workplace Evolutionaries community and the IFMA Foundation Workplace Strategy Research Summits. She is also an award-winning co-editor and author of the “Work on the Move” books and recently completed a three-year term on IFMA’s global board of directors. A sought-after speaker who has guest lectured at MIT and the Vienna University of Technology, Coles Levine has been actively involved in the IFMA Foundation and is one of the pioneers of the foundation’s Global Workforce Initiative. She joins IFMA staff as a remote employee, working from Long Beach, California, USA.

    IFMA announces 2018-19 executive committee and global board of directors

    IFMA is pleased to introduce the member-elected executive committee (EC) and new appointees of its global board of directors for the 2018-19 fiscal year. July 1 marked the first day as chair for Graham John Tier, CFM, FMP, MRICS. He is joined by first vice chair John Carrillo, CFM, IFMA Fellow, and second vice chair Peter Ankerstjerne, MBA, COP, FRICS, IFMA Fellow. EC terms last one year. In addition, four new board members were appointed to three-year terms: Beverley Farrington, Kate North, Michael Redding and Dean Stanberry, CFM, LEED AP O+M. These professionals bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the organization globally renowned for thought leadership in facility management (FM) and workplace strategy.

    The global board of directors for IFMA continues to pursue a bold strategic agenda as it announces the departure of Tony Keane, CAE from the organization. The board of directors is responsible for hiring a replacement to direct the organization toward four strategic goals: 1) Sharpening FM Skills, 2) Exceptional member experience, 3) Broadening and Globally Advancing the FM Profession, and 4) The Evolution of the Global FM Profession and Its Member-Centric Association.     IFMA releases FM benchmarks report on operations and maintenance

    IFMA's FM Research and Benchmarking Institute (RBI) has published definitive benchmarks for facility management (FM) professionals covering janitorial, maintenance, utility costs and sustainable practices. IFMA’s 2017 O&M Benchmarking Report, released in collaboration with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), draws data from 2,000 survey respondents throughout the United States and Canada and includes analysis of 98,000 buildings. New subjects in this year’s edition include security operations costs and staffing, organizational characteristics, FM supervisory trends and FM department placement within the organizational structure. The report is available for digital download from IFMA’s bookstore at bit.ly/omresearch for US$445 (US$295 for IFMA members).
