Tips for completing the online membership application:
- The online application has six steps; make sure you cover all of them.
- The red numbered boxes on the top right of each page indicate the step that you are on.
- Use the “previous” button to go back; not your browser arrows or the red numbered boxes.
- If you are unsure which membership category you are in, click on each membership type and a description box will explain.
- On page 3, you can choose the “Full Membership Package” or “Create Your Own Membership” to tailor your membership to your needs. If you choose the Full Membership Package, you will be required to choose a council. To join without a council membership, mail delivery option or a foundation donation (everything that is included in the Full Membership Package), choose “Create Your Own Membership.”
- You will be assigned a chapter based upon your zip code. If you would like to join a different chapter, you will have an opportunity to do so.
- You will receive a welcome e-mail within two business days once your application and payment have been processed. You will also receive a receipt via e-mail or fax within two business days.
- IFMA’s EIN is 38-2402699

- How much are IFMA membership dues?
- IFMA membership dues are US$179 for Professional and Associate membership in most countries. IFMA has determined discounted dues (two levels or tiers) for developing countries based upon a number of factors including the country’s GNP. See tiered dues list here.
Professional Member
Professional Membership is open to facility practitioners and educators, whose primary responsibilities are to provide, oversee, or teach one (or more) Facility Management core competency.
Associate Member
Associate membership is open to individuals whose primary responsibilities include: business development; sales and/or marketing as a consultant; representation of a manufacturer, vendor, dealer, distributor; and/or provider of facility-related products and services. No more than two representatives in the Associate classification from any organization may belong to any one chapter at a time. |
- Chapter membership dues are typically US$92 but dues vary by chapter.
- First –year IFMA members are required to join a chapter if there is one in their area.
- Council membership is optional and dues are US$55.
Councils
Councils and communities of practice (CoP) are special-interest groups that reflect the diverse types of facilities and job responsibilities represented by IFMA members. Transcending geographic boundaries, councils enable members to interact with other professionals who share an interest in a particular FM practice or who work in the same business sector. Councils do have a volunteer board of directors, Bylaws and standards to meet in order to maintain their status as a Council. Councils are required to have at least one face-to-face meeting a year; most meet twice yearly.
- Communities of Practice membership is optional and dues are US$25.
Communities of Practice
The goal is to provide a network for facility professionals to share resources, connect with other professionals, benefit from continuing education and advance the facility management profession as it relates to the industry. CoPs do not have volunteer governance or Bylaws. The offerings are staff driven and primarily virtual. To facilitate the sharing of resources, a community server platform has been put in to serve as the hub of each community. This resource allows members to communicate, ask questions, share best practices, and assist one another with industry-specific challenges and solutions. Members are in control of their interaction with the Web based community–with the Web based message system, or e-mail subscription to all, or selected topic, discussions. Just go to http://ifmacommunity.org/.
- Receiving a printed copy of the Facility Management Journal in the mail is optional and the fee is US$42.
- The IFMA Young Professional membership category dues are US$99; chapter dues pricing varies.

Student Member
| Student membership is open to candidates who are engaged in full-time study at an accredited college or university.
