Recognized Certificate Programs
IFMA has developed standards to recognize certificate
programs in extension or continuing education divisions
of colleges and universities. The Recognized Certificate
Program was developed for the purpose of advancing excellence
in the education and practice of facility managers and
distinguishing programs that provide outstanding academic
preparation in IFMA’s FM competency areas.
Benefits of recognition are:
- Automatic acceptance as a program provider whose
courses and seminars are approved for certification
maintenance points for Certified Facility Managers
- Graduates from recognized certificate
program schools are eligible to apply for the IFMA FMP credential.
For specific qualifications contact certification@ifma.org.
- Inclusion on a list describing recognized programs
that is sent to individuals and employers who call
IFMA about facility management certificate programs
- Recognition at IFMA’s Annual Meeting and in
IFMA publications
The following institutions offer certificate programs
in facility management. They qualified for recognition
by submitting a detailed self-study application to IFMA,
which was reviewed and approved by a committee of peers.
These institutions reapply for recognition every six
years to ensure that the certificate programs they offer
continue to meet the standards set by IFMA for quality
facility management education. The primary purpose of
this list is to let potential students, employers and
others with an interest in facility management education
know which programs have been set apart by taking the
steps needed to become recognized.
