IFMA offers Hot Topic i-Sessions:

Hot Topics focus on just that—current trends, new technology and more. These 90-minute to two-hour sessions will feature energy efficiency, emergency preparedness and other hot topics in facility management. Certain topics will be featured in multi-session series for more in-depth coverage.

Anyone can participate in IFMA’s i-Sessions using just a computer, an Internet connection and a telephone.  IFMA uses a cutting-edge communication and collaboration solution with no software downloads called Adobe Connect for the delivery of i-Sessions.  All that's required is the Adobe Flash Player, which is already installed on 97 percent of Internet browsers worldwide.

What do I need to participate in an i-Session?
You will need a telephone (preferably with a speakerphone), a computer and an Internet connection. A high-speed connection is recommended. If a group of people are participating in a conference room or office, ensure that the telephone has good volume control for an optimal i-Session experience.

Can I verify that my computer setup will work on the day of the i-Session?
Joining an i-Session is easy. All that's required is the Adobe Flash Player, which is already installed on 97 percent of browsers worldwide. We recommend that you check your computer at least two or three days prior to an i-Session just to be sure. You can test your computer by clicking the link in the e-mail confirmation or reminder you will receive after registering. Or, test your system now.

What if I have technical problems on the day of the i-Session?
For issues requiring immediate assistance, such as the in ability to start a meeting, call Adobe Connect Technical Support 1-800-945-9120 Option 2. Support lines are open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday EST.

What are Hot Topics and Core Bytes?
There are two types of i-Sessions, Hot Topics and Core Bytes. Hot Topics focus on current trends, new technology and more. These 90-minute to two-hour sessions will feature energy efficiency, emergency preparedness and other hot topics in facility management. Certain topics will be featured in multi-session series for more in-depth coverage. Core Bytes are one-hour sessions that take a closer look at a specific task or job function that relates to one of the nine facility management core competencies. These informative sessions are designed as companion pieces to IFMA’s core competency courses for both facility managers who are new to the field as well as more experienced professionals looking for a refresher.

How much does an i-Session cost?
i-Sessions vary in price. Members of IFMA, SAME and the Alliance for Sustainable Built Environment qualify for the member price. All others pay the nonmember price. 

Hot Topics – 90 minutes (HT-90):  $99 Members / $129 Nonmembers 
Hot Topics – 120 minutes (HT-120):  $249 Members / $279 Nonmembers 
Core Bytes - 60 Minutes (CB): $49 Members / $79 Nonmembers

When and how will I receive the login instructions?
All registered participants will receive a confirmation e-mail with login instructions. If you registered online before 3:00 p.m. Central Time, you will receive an e-mail confirmation by 3:30 p.m. Central Time on the day of your registration.  If you faxed your registration form, your registration confirmation will take two to three days to process. If you paid by check, your registration confirmation may take two to four days to process.  A link to the i-Session, audio information and contact information will be provided in the confirmation e-mail.

Who should I call if I do not receive the login instructions?
Up until one day prior to the i-Session, contact Vicky Acosta with IFMA Professional Development by phone at 713-974-5637 or by e-mail at vicky.acosta@ifma.org. On the day of the i-Session, please call IFMA at 713-623-4362 and any customer service representative will be able to help you.

When can I download the handout(s) for the i-Session?
Handouts are provided two days prior to all i-Sessions, unless otherwise specified. Two days prior to the i-Session you will receive an e-mail reminder with a link to any handouts to be downloaded. Some sessions may not have handouts.

How do I log in to an i-Session?
You can log in to an i-Session up to 15 minutes before the start time of the session. Log in using the information provided in your e-mail confirmation or reminder.

What phone number should I use to dial in? If I am outside of U.S./Canada?
All participants are provided a conference call number and personal identification number (PIN) to access the i-Session in their confirmation e-mail.  A toll-free number is provided for participants located in the U.S. or Canada, and a toll number is provided for participants outside of the U.S. or Canada.

Where can I verify my local time for the i-Session?
i-Sessions are advertised in Central Daylight Time (CDT) or Central Standard Time (CST). To verify the local time for your session, use the world clock converter. Set the date and time of the session in Houston, Texas, USA, and then convert it to your location’s time zone.

What is the cut-off time for registration?
Online registrations are accepted up until two hours before the start of the i-Session. If you have any questions about your registration, please contact IFMA registration at 713-623-4362.

What is included in a single registration?
One registration includes one telephone connection, one Internet connection and permission to print unlimited copies of any available handouts. If your name and e-mail address are used for multiple logins, IFMA will charge you for each additional login.

How many people can attend the i-Session from my location?
An unlimited number of attendees can join one location under a single login. Many companies reserve conference rooms and have an entire department join the session. All you need is a speakerphone and a computer connected to a LCD projector.

What if someone else in my company at a different location would like to attend the same i-Session?
That individual would need to purchase a separate registration. One registration includes one telephone connection, one Internet connection and permission to print unlimited copies of any available handouts. If your name and e-mail address are used for multiple logins, IFMA will charge you for each additional login.

Will I receive CEUs or a certificate of attendance for participating in an i-Session?
Yes, i-Sessions grant Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as well as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) points to attendees. Participants may also print Certificates of Attendance at the close of the session.

Hot Topics – 90 minutes (HT-90):  0.15 CEU and 1 CFM maintenance point
Hot Topics – 120 minutes (HT-120):  0.20 CEU and 2 CFM maintenance points
Core Bytes - 60 minutes (CB): 0.10 CEU and 1 CFM maintenance point

The site registrant is responsible for faxing the Participant Sign In Sheet listing all attendees at a site location to Sandee Benninghoff at 713-623-6124.

What is your cancellation policy?
Full refunds will be granted for cancellations received in writing to IFMA no later than 5:00 p.m. Central Time three days prior to the start date of the i-Session. There is no cancellation fee. No refunds will be granted after this time. Refunds will not be given for no-shows.
