IFMA and Your Career

An FM’s daily work schedule is challenging enough. IFMA’s objective is to make it as uncomplicated as possible to pursue, achieve and maintain the FMP designation. Online toolkits, database resources, on-site and online courses, and multiple training and knowledge networks will be made available to FMP candidates through IFMA’s Professional Development department, IFMA chapters, councils and www.ifma.org.

All area requirements may be met through the following IFMA resources:

"I'm really excited I can start using the FMP designation after my name. As a Ph.D.student who got the FMP designation, I will try to work more on FM research from now on in order to contribute to the development of FM industry."

Jun Kim, FMP
Georgia Technology Facility Department

IFMA’s Spring and Fall Symposium
Offered twice a year, IFMA's Symposia provide intensive two- and four-day programs that present FMP courses and networking opportunities.

IFMA Online Courses
IFMA’s growing library of comprehensive online courses accomplishes a more flexible way to serve the FMP population, as well as extend IFMA’s educational reach to new learners.

IFMA Chapter and Council Seminars
Candidates can receive credit for attending IFMA courses presented by local IFMA chapters or councils.

IFMA Recognized Programs
Colleges, universities or technical programs that offer certificates or first-professional degrees specifically in facility management. These institutions reapply for recognition every six years to ensure that the programs they offer continue to meet the standards set by IFMA for quality facility management education. Recognized program graduates are eligible to sit for the CFM exam one year sooner than graduates of non-recognized programs.

IFMA-Approved Providers
Approved providers include partner associations, community colleges and training companies. These organizations must meet provider criteria and instructional standards established and maintained for the FMP designation by IFMA.
