More Than an Expense: How Have Changes in the Energy Markets Influenced the Way Companies are Dealing With Their Energy Costs

Mike Moore, President, American Energy Solutions
Not long ago, energy costs were just another line item on the expense budget—a lot has changed in the past 10 years. Today, the complexity of the energy market is forcing companies to re-think the way they manage expenses. Many market-related factors affect procurement decisions, such as deregulation. The general trend of rising energy costs is increasing the costs of overall operation. Add aging facilities into the mix, along with mandatory greenhouse gas emission reporting, and you get a very complex interrelationship of issues. Learn to take a much more comprehensive approach when implementing energy strategies. Credit: 0.1 CEU

  • Identify key areas of a comprehensive energy strategy
  • Maximize capital dollars and funding for projects
  • Review data collection and reporting tools for executive management analysis

How Can a Facility Professional “Sell” Sustainability into the C-suite?
Jerry Yudelson, PE, MS, MBA, LEED AP
The business case for sustainability encompasses five main areas of activity: economics, risk management, marketing/PR, government relations and stakeholder relations. Each of these has both tangible and intangible components. The facts are rapidly mounting that prove organizations with strong sustainability initiatives are also strong in all aspects of the Balanced Scorecard. In fact, a recent study showed that 80 percent of the top 250 companies in the world had strong sustainability programs. How can a facility professional “sell” sustainability into the C-suite? How can facility professionals partner with the CFO and Chief Sustainability Officer to create effective programs for their organizations? Jerry Yudelson’s extensive research and consulting experience has the answer.
