CEUs and Maintenance Points
What Qualifies for CFM/FMP Maintenance Points?
IFMA also evaluates requests for CFM/FMP Maintenance
points which apply solely to CFM/FMP holders. CFM/FMP
Maintenance Points are awarded at the discretion of
the IFMA professional development department. Please
contact the IFMA professional development department
for more information.
How to Get Your Seminars Evaluated for CEUs
To request an evaluation of your seminar, conference
or educational event, please complete a "Request for
the Assignment of Continuing Education Units" form and
fax it to the IFMA professional development department
at 713-623-6124.
Once you submit this form, the IFMA Headquarters professional
development department will review the content of your
seminar and assign it a control number, the appropriate
number of continuing education units, and determine
whether the content qualifies for CFM/FMP Maintenance
Points credits and/or other requested CEU points from
organizations that IFMA is a preferred provide of.
In order for a seminar, course or workshop to be awarded
continuing education points, there must be educational
content and it must be presented in a formal classroom
type environment. Therefore, CEUs cannot be assigned
for field trip-type activities. For example, when attendees
tour an infrastructure as part of a meeting or conference
this type of activity would not count toward the CEU
hours for the event.
If your chapter should choose the annual CEU administrative
fee of $150 (U.S.), the chapter may submit an unlimited
number of evaluations in one year. Otherwise, the chapter
will be billed on a per use basis of $25 (U.S).
We will continue to evaluate your seminars, conferences
and programs for CEUs and CFM/FMP Maintenance Points
as quickly as possible. We try to conduct the evaluation
within a few business days of receiving your requests.
However, we cannot always guarantee a one or two day
turnaround. Please continue to submit your requests
as far ahead of time as possible, or at least 30 days
in advance of the event date.
We can process your requests more quickly if we receive
all of the necessary information:
- the date and time of the event
- the topic(s) of the educational program
- a description or outline of major educational goals
of the program
- speaker(s) name, title
- speaker(s) biographical information
- whether we should assign one IFMA control number
or consider each part individually (Can a participant
attend only part of the program? Can a participant
register for the entire day and only the morning or
afternoon? Are any session's concurrent? If so, you
need multiple control numbers.)
Please do not submit your requests after an event has
taken place. We cannot assign a control number and calculate
CEUs retroactively because CEUs are based upon attendance.
