IFMA CFM/FMP Credit Provider Information
About IFMA Maintenance Points:
Certified Facility Managers (CFM) are required to earn
120 CFM maintenance points every three years. They must
earn these points in at least two of the following categories:
- Practice
- Continuing Education
- Professional Involvement
- Development of the Profession
Facility Management Professionals (FMP) are required
to earn 60 FMP maintenance points every 2 years. They
must earn points in the following categories:
- networking
- business/workplace leadership
- participation in research activities through IFMA
Headquarters
- continuing education
- career growth
- involvement in committees in the workplace
One (1) Maintenance Point = One (1) contact hour
Points that are earned at point provider
events are self reported by the CFM or FMP that is attending
the event.
To become a provider:
Submit $2,500 (U.S.) to IFMA for one (1) year of unlimited
approvals on programs.
Provider status begins once the check is processed
by IFMA.
For each program:
- Complete the “Request for Assignment of CFM/FMP
Maintenance Point Form”.
- Submit the request to IFMA Headquarters via fax
or mail:

- Allow 30 days for approval.
- Programs must be approved before they can be offered
for maintenance points.
- Once approved, courses are accredited for one (1)
