Community Medical Center Replaces Paper Process with Computerized Preventative Maintenance Solution
Corrigo, Inc., a leading provider of on-demand service management solutions, announced that Community Medical Center, a critical access hospital that offers a full range of services, has deployed Corrigo, an on-demand, work order maintenance management system in its 35-bed hospital in Falls City, Neb. and at a satellite, community health clinic in Humboldt, 26 miles away.
Community Medical Center (CMC) wanted to automate its work order process, eliminate the paper-based process and institute a computerized preventative maintenance system that would initiate and track work orders with service technicians. With Corrigo’s solution, they found a web-based application that allows the Facilities team at CMC to communicate with its technicians using computers and wireless devices, essential for dispersed locations in rural areas.
“We wanted to communicate wirelessly with our technicians and save them the time of retrieving paper copies of work orders,” explained Phil Scheitel, facility manager, Community Medical Center. “Our service people can now stay in the field, and we send them work orders on their mobile phones so that they don’t waste time traveling to an office to pick up copies of new work orders. Also, they can enter details about their completed work orders on their Mobile Java phones.
“We have three technicians servicing two facilities covering 52,000total square feet. Being able to communicate directly and instantly allows us to manage our facilities and assets efficiently and deliver superior service in sometimes emergency situations. People in Southeast Nebraska depend on the Community Medical Center, and we want to ensure that our facilities are always operational.”
The reports that are generated by Corrigo are also appealing to Scheitel and his team. “We had no reporting before,” he noted, “and we wanted to track assets and costs associated with the labor and parts. Now we have an inventory management system and a vendor portal, and can capture all of this information in our system. We will be able to see the history of our assets, work orders and invoices.”
“Community Medical Center recognizes the value of applying technology to a preventative maintenance initiative situation,” said Rick Michaux, president of Corrigo. “Mobile, on-demand facilities management allow service and facilities teams to stay connected and work seamlessly together. In a medical environment, this could prove critical to operations. We are pleased to be providing Community Medical Center with the tools to help them be more effective in managing their facilities.”
