Core Values & Strategic Themes

CORE VALUES

IFMA pledges to live the following core values through its role and responsibilities to stakeholders:

Collaboration

We believe that working together toward a common goal is essential to the success of the association.

Communication

We encourage open and frequent dialogue among IFMA staff and the facility management community focused on active listening and earnest response.

Conscientiousness

IFMA staff members are not only guided by the strategy and values, but are also guided by their own conscience and adhere to a disciplined set of personal principles.

Excellence

We recognize the importance of excellence in ourselves and to the association. We develop and deliver information, products and services to standards of the highest quality.

Innovation

We encourage innovation to improve all the ways in which the association pursues its mission.

Integrity

We uphold honesty, ethical practices and environmental responsibility in our involvement with staff, facility management practitioners, business partners, and facility and industry issues.

Knowledge Sharing

We encourage knowledge sharing as a result of our belief that all of us are smarter and more productive than any one of us.

Leadership

We inspire each other to achieve and grow through a shared vision and passion to excel.

Professional Development

We support the development of our people, association and profession through positive relationships, dynamic synergies and innovative growth opportunities.

Recognition

We recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of our people, the association's greatest asset.

Stewardship

We understand that we are stewards of the facility management profession and the resources entrusted to the association by its members.

STRATEGIC THEMES

Clarity and focus are infused in the strategy map by three strategic themes.  These themes reflect what the executive leadership believes must be done for the organization to succeed.

Through the vertical intersection of each perspective, the strategy map ensures that each theme intersects and infuses every objective contained in each of the four perspectives.  The strategic themes ensure the attention and accountability of the theme in all aspects of executing the strategy.  The three strategic themes are: global influence, community and operational excellence.

Global Influence

We learn to think globally and subsequently begin to always act globally.  Rather than identifying our global intentions solely inside an objective or horizontally in a perspective, this focus as a strategic theme means it permeates everything we, the staff and volunteers, do.  In addition to serving a global membership and customer base, the association is an influential worldwide leader for the profession.

Community

In an association, community is paramount and placing it as a theme ensures that it is considered at all levels of execution rather than in only one objective.  It provides the association and all of its stakeholders with a sense of belonging to something greater than what each could be on their own.  Community is a reason for associating and validates working together.

Operational Excellence

Operational excellence is not only a theme for our internal business processes, it also is ingrained in everything we do.  We serve with excellence, lead with excellence and learn and grow with and through excellence.  It provides the highest level of focus in all our activities.
